Local children have the opportunity to take the first step on the road to artistic fame this month, with Cornish bakers Rowe's offering the chance for under 16s to design a logo for their upcoming 'Bag for Life' - and win a Nintendo Wii to boot.
The cotton shopping bags, due to launch in August, will be sold in Rowe's shops throughout Cornwall and Devon and will display the winning child's design in full colour. As well as looking great the bags can be used again and again - a great environmentally friendly alternative to plastic carrier bags.
The winning logo will also feature on a new mini range of products from Rowe's, which will feature child-friendly bite size portions of treats and well-loved snacks that Rowe's grown-up customers currently enjoy. Perfect for smaller hands and tummies, the range will give the lucky winner the opportunity to see their design on Rowe's counters across the region.
"We're thrilled that the look for our Bag for Life and new children's range will be designed by children," said Paul Pearce, Marketing Manager of Rowe's. "We're a family company, proud of our Cornish heritage, and we hope that the winning child will enjoy being able to stamp their mark on this part of Rowe's history - as well as playing on their new Nintendo Wii of course! Not only will the Bag for Life soon be available across Cornwall and Devon, but our new children's range will also be arriving into Rowe's shops with packaging and POS that's been designed by children, for children, and that's something we're really passionate about. We'd like the winning design to be bright and colourful and to show off Rowe's as a family-friendly bakery - as well as our well-known pasties we make breads, sandwiches, cakes, pastries and other snacks, so the sky's the limit! We want children to have fun and enjoy getting creative with their entries."
Logos will be printed within a 10x10in area on the bag. Entries need to reflect Rowe's reputation as leading quality bakers in Cornwall and be suitable for both the Bag for Life and marketing materials for the forthcoming kid's range of bakery items. Any child under the age of 16 can enter - just submit your entry on a piece of paper or card to the address below, and clearly mark the envelope: 'Bag for Life Competition'. Entries must be received by 1st July 2008 and the winner will be announced on 4th July.
