Artist Paul Acraman is presenting his latest Charity Art Exhibition. He will be supporting Bantham Surf Life Saving Club.
Paul is a Plymouth based professional artist who, alongside his normal business, sets up occasional charity exhibitions. Recent charities have included St Luke's Hospice, the RNLI, and Children's Hospice South West.
Paul's next exhibition will be held upstairs at The Ship, The Quay, Kingsbridge by kind permission of the management, on Monday 21st July from 11 am - 7 pm and also on Tuesday 22nd July from 11 am - 5 pm. Everyone is welcome to come and view Paul's paintings. This is also Kingsbridge Fair Week, so come along and enjoy the atmosphere!
Paul's beautiful and colourful seascapes and landscapes in oils, pastels and watercolours will be on sale, with 25 % of all sales going to Bantham Surf Life Saving Club. Some of Paul's work will be available as prints and cards.
There will also be a draw to win a framed, limited edition print by Paul - 'High Tide, Bantham'. All of the proceeds from this draw will also go to Bantham SLSC. A selection of his work can be seen on his website at www.paulacramanartist.co.uk.
Paul says, "My wife, Rosie and I are proud to be associate members of the Club and our son is a Junior member, training to be a lifeguard. The Club does a fantastic job, together with the RNLI, protecting us and our children on our local beach, and training the lifeguards of the future."
Bantham SLSC is committed to providing a safe beach and aquatic environment for the community, whilst developing life saving skills through the education and training of its members. The Club is dedicated to saving lives at Bantham (known for its treacherous currents) through education of beach, sea and surf awareness and training young people to be life guards to work alongside the RNLI. The Club is affiliated to the Surf Life Saving Association of Great Britain and Surf Life Saving Devon.
The Club patrols the beach every Sunday throughout the summer and trains regularly in the week, and during the winter period. The Club provides training programmes for Seniors (16 years old), Juniors (13 - 15) and Nippers (7 - 12) as well as enjoying regular social events. The Club was formed in 1960 to reduce the significant number of drownings that were occurring every year on Bantham beach.
Bantham Surf Life Saving Club is proud of its voluntary ethos providing patrols on the beach on Sundays alongside the paid lifeguarding service provided by the RNLI Monday to Saturday. The Club has a close working relationship with the RNLI and in combination delivers the best service to beach users throughout the season. The Club operates from its own Clubhouse, by virtue of a long lease on land owned by Evans Estates (1956) Ltd, which the Club was able to construct with the benefit of one of the few major Lottery Awards that has been granted in the South West of England by Sport England. Bantham Surf Life Saving Club is a registered charity No. 1036210. More details can be found at www.banthamslsc.co.uk.
Paul says, "The charity exhibitions are great fun to do. The support we get is tremendous and it is wonderful to be able to help people who spend their lives helping everyone else."
